Frances has been gilding for a very long time. In 1967 she graduated in Graphic Design, specializing in book illustration, from Camberwell School of Art, London. She has worked on numerous projects as a gilder and as a specialist in Verre Églomisé, reverse painting and gilding on glass. In 1992 she travelled to San Francisco, to decorate Ann Getty's dining room, and stayed. Thirteen years later she finally came back to where her heart is, London.

Frances has taught widely, in London, New York, San Francisco, as well as Calcutta and Vietnam. She has worked for many years to commission, as well as being an artist in her own right, with work in the permanent collections of Victoria and Albert Museum, UK, and Corning Museum of Glass, NY, USA.

For two years she was editor and producer of The Gilder's Tip: a twice yearly journal of The Society of Gilders, an international professional organization based in the US.

Presently, Frances is in her second and final year of a Master of Philosophy programme at London's Royal College of Art, in Glass, Gold and the Image.
