Wherever there is glass, painting and gilding can be used. This means table tops, partition doors, panels for walls, counter tops, splash backs... there is no limit. Past projects have included lining the walls of an ante room for a palace, several large dining and small coffee tables, decorative classical panels for private houses, for both living areas and for bathrooms.

"Powder Room"
This project features a Guest Bathroom for a San Francissco client. Every surface, including the counter top and the sink itself was made of, or covered with glass. At its simplest the glass was silvered with silver leaf. The inside curtains were created using Moon gold, an alloy comprising gold, silver and a small percentage of palladium. We used 22ct gold leaf for the outer drapes, which were painted and then given a backing of red lacquer, backed with silver coloured leaf.

Panels of verre églomisé for
a bath.
This project features a set of panels for a Tennessee bathroom. Most of the panels were 7' high, and they were all fitted above a dado rail. The widest was a mirror that was 5' wide. All the panels were decorated with Chinoiserie, taken from the designs of the French designer, Jean Pillement. The fashion for this type of ornament was at its height in the second half of the 18th century.

Panels of verre églomisé
For
a Powder Room in a private residence. Designer: Bunny Williams Inc. New
York. One of the greatest disadvantages of this art is the fact that its overiding quality, that of mysteriousness and depth, cannot be photographed. All that can be seen is the image, as if it were a painting, or any other two-dimensional work. As artists today our work is mostly seen in reproduction, whether it is glass art, painting, or anything else. In this case the viewer looks through a depth of glass to the see the work below, and as a result the images come and go; they reflect light and shade as well as a mirror image, where leaf is used, and this gives the work so much more to offer than can ever be imagined. It remains a major challenge to photograph.
